Western Celebrates Its Exceptional Teaching Staff
September | October | November | December | January | February | March | April | May
It has often been said that teaching is a thankless job. At Western, we want to ensure our teachers do not feel this way. We make a point to honor those teachers who go above and beyond and demonstrate leadership, initiative, creativity and unending devotion to their students and the teaching profession. Each month we honor one teacher for his/her dynamic work with our Wildcats. The teacher receiving this honor each month receives a Visa gift certificate, a Certificate of Appreciation and a special parking spot in front of the school.
Betty Cox Honored as May’s Teacher of the Month
Betty Cox is truly a “home-grown” teacher. She is a graduate of McArthur High School and Florida Atlantic University. Ms. Cox has a bachelor's degree in education and has enjoyed the teaching profession for the past 32 years.
Ms. Cox has been a Wildcat since the school opened in 1981. She is a member of our Business Technology Department and works very well with all of our students, teaching them computer skills and business skills that they will need for success when they graduate from high school.
In addition to her dedication to students in the classroom, Ms. Cox serves as the sponsor of BPA (Business Professionals of America) and volunteers her time to assist adults wishing to attain computer skills. Every Saturday, she works in the Adult Computer Education program, fostering the needs of adults who cannot afford to pay for classes. She has been recognized in the “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” and lives by the motto, “The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.”
Congratulations on this well deserved honor, Ms. Cox!!!
