Mary Bevilacqua "Teacher of the Month" for January
Mary Bevilacqua is an exceptional Language Arts teacher who brings works of literature to life. She has taught Advanced Placement English at Western for many years and has also taught at the college level. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English, Western's Faculty Council, and Western's National Honor Society Review Board. She has led many professional groups as a mentor and truly embodies the title of a "life-long learner."
Ms. Bevilacqua demands success from her students and they very rarely disappoint her. She sets high expectations and her students consistently rise to meet those expectations. Mary has been named Western's "Teacher of the Year" four times and has also been named the "Florida English Teacher of the Year." She has authored several professional journal articles as well as co-authored a Literature and Composition book. She is outstanding in everything she undertakes.
Despite many teary eyed colleagues, students and alumni, Ms. Bevilacqua retired from her position as Western's Advanced Placement English teacher this month. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to work with her. She is truly one-of-a-kind in all ways! She has touched the lives of so many children and her legacy will live on in each of them! We love you, Ms. Bevilacqua!!!!
