January's Student of the Month is Michelle Bernardo
Michelle is an outstanding senior who is certainly very deserving of the title, "Student of the Month." As the current President of HOSA, she spends many hours volunteering her time to organize and orchestrate fundraising acclivities such as blood drives. In addition, she has organized kick ball tournaments and red cross events to benefit various charities. She has accumulated over 1000 volunteer service hours and continues to give back to her community in many different ways.
Michelle truly enjoys learning, and is especially interested in the area of medicine. She has competed in several HOSA sponsored events and has excelled in the area of Medical Photography, winning first place in this area at the HOSA Regional competition. Because of her success at Regionals, she has advanced to the state competition and will compete again in a few weeks. Michelle spends countless hours assisting her peers through the National Honor Society tutoring program. She volunteers her time after school to assist underclassmen with their studies. She has also participated in the H2O project to provide fresh water to the people of Africa and the Stride and Ride and Relay for Life fundraisers.
Michelle has maintained a 4.4 GPA and continues to expand her knowledge both in and out of the classroom. She has also volunteered her time for the past 2 years in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Memorial Hospital West, obtaining real-life experience in the medical field. Michelle is an outstanding young woman who will undoubtedly meet success in life. Congratulations!!!
