2014-2015 Reflections Theme
"The world would be a better place if..."
Entry Deadline - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2014
PTSA is strongly committed to supporting the Arts at Western High School. By chairing the National PTA's Reflections program, we provide our students with an amazing opportunity to showcase their talent.
The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme, while increasing community awareness on the importance of the arts in education.
Students may submit an entry in any of six arts areas: Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, and Film/Video Production. Only original works of art are accepted.
Annually, hundreds of thousands of students participate in the Reflections program through their local PTSAs/PTAs. These student winners go on to compete at the district/regional and state levels, with the best-of-the-best entries going to National PTA to be considered for a National Reflections award. Each year, PTA gives the following awards at the national level:
· Outstanding Interpretation Awards
· Awards of Excellence
· Awards of Merit
· Honorable Mention
All entries are judged on artistic merit/creativity, mastery of the medium, and, most heavily, interpretation of the theme.
Western PTSA will award a first, second and third place prize to selected school winners.
