National Red Ribbon Celebration Week

National Red Ribbon Celebration Week begins on October 23 and runs through October 31. The purpose of the Red Ribbon campaign is to present a visible commitment to a safe, healthy and drug free lifestyle. Western High School's Chapter of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) are asking the staff and student body to celebrate Red Ribbon Week by doing the following: wear RED on October 23rd , on the 24th sign a anti-drug pledge during your lunch hour in the cafeteria and receive a lollipop, on the 27th pin on your red ribbon and wear it for the rest of the week. Is in need of volunteers to help count out food for sites picking it up. This occurs one (1) Saturday every month. Volunteers must be at least 15 years or older. Juvenile Diabetes Foundation

Cooperative Feeding Program

An agency that feeds hungry bodies, minds and souls through the provision of nutritious food and diversity of services, urgently needs volunteers to host EmergencyFood Drives to assist thousands of families in need during the holiday season November 1 through December 24. Volunteers are also needed to sort and distribute food and stock shelves. 4 Children's S.A.K.E

An organizationproviding support for abused children, needs donations of canned goods,frozen turkeys and non-perishable food for Thanksgiving Food Baskets to be distributed to foster families within Broward County. $10 or $20 Gift Certificates are also needed to assist foster parents in the purchase of a turkey. In addition, we welcome groups who wish to coordinate and host a Thanksgiving Dinner for a foster family. City of Fort Lauderdale - 15th Annual Blues Festival Fort Lauderdale

Scheduled for November 2 - 4, Friday 5:00 p.m.- 11:00 p.m., Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 11:p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. -8:00 p.m. at the Fort Lauderdale Stadium Festival grounds. The Alzheimer's Family Center

which provides respite services and counseling to families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other memory-related disorders, is looking for volunteers for the Holiday Fantasy of Lights, the annual holiday drive-through light show at Tradewinds Park, Coconut Creek, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., from November 18 through December 30. Volunteers are needed to direct traffic. Corporate, civic, school groups and families are invented to participate! Children's Diagnostic; Treatment Center

Serving the needs of infants, children and youth with medical and/or developmental problems due to birth complications, HIV/AIDS, genetic disorders, abuse and neglect, is hosting its 9th Annual Basket Brigade on Sunday, November 18th, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. A $20.00 donation will feed a family of 4 - 6 with turkey and trimmings. Is sponsoring their annual Angel Tree Program at Broward County malls, coordinating purchases of Christmas toys, gifts and clothing for Broward County's needy children. City of Plantation Parks & Recreation

Is sponsoring its Annual Santa's Visit. As Santa rides through the City of Plantation, December 24th, Christmas Eve, on a fire truck from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Elves are needed to assist Santa by handing out candy canes and Christmas cheer to all children. Students 14 years and older will earn community service hours, but must have a signed parent waiver in advance. A major AIDS service organization providing a variety of services topeople with HIV/AIDS, is having a client Holiday Picnic, December 8.Volunteers are needed to help set up, clean up decorate, cook, serve, and act as Santa and Clowns.
