National Red Ribbon Celebration Week
|
National Red Ribbon Celebration Week begins on October 23 and runs through October 31. The purpose of the Red Ribbon campaign is to present a visible commitment to a safe, healthy and drug free lifestyle. Western High School's Chapter of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) are asking the staff and student body to celebrate Red Ribbon Week by doing the following: wear RED on October 23rd , on the 24th sign a anti-drug pledge during your lunch hour in the cafeteria and receive a lollipop, on the 27th pin on your red ribbon and wear it for the rest of the week. An organizationproviding support for abused children, needs donations of canned goods,frozen turkeys and non-perishable food for Thanksgiving Food Baskets to be distributed to foster families within Broward County. $10 or $20 Gift Certificates are also needed to assist foster parents in the purchase of a turkey. In addition, we welcome groups who wish to coordinate and host a Thanksgiving Dinner for a foster family. Serving the needs of infants, children and youth with medical and/or developmental problems due to birth complications, HIV/AIDS, genetic disorders, abuse and neglect, is hosting its 9th Annual Basket Brigade on Sunday, November 18th, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. A $20.00 donation will feed a family of 4 - 6 with turkey and trimmings.
