4 Children's S.A.K.E.an organizationproviding support for abused children, needs donations of canned goods,frozen turkeys and non-perishable food for Thanksgiving Food Baskets to be distributed to foster families within Broward County. $10 or $20 Gift Certificates are also needed to assist foster parents in the purchase of a turkey. In addition, we welcome groups who wish to coordinate and host a Thanksgiving Dinner for a foster family. City of Fort Lauderdale - 15th Annual Blues Festival Fort Lauderdale scheduled for November 2 - 4, Friday 5:00 p.m.- 11:00 p.m., Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 11:p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. -8:00 p.m. at the Fort Lauderdale Stadium Festival grounds. The Alzheimer's Family Center which provides respite services and counseling to families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other memory-related disorders, is looking for volunteers for the Holiday Fantasy of Lights, the annual holiday drive-through light show at Tradewinds Park, Coconut Creek, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., from November 18 through December 30. City of Plantation Parks & Recreation, is sponsoring its Annual Santa's Visit. As Santa rides through the City of Plantation, December 24th, Christmas Eve, on a fire truck from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Elves are needed to assist Santa by handing out candy canes and Christmas cheer to all children. Students 14 years and older will earn community service hours, but must have a signed parent waiver in advance. Starting Over, Inc.committed to providing the homeless with food, shelter, clothing, job training, and placement within the theme event, scenic design, construction and cultural arts field, would like volunteer help in putting together 300 Christmas baskets for children during the month of December. Bring your favorite pets, whether they walk, crawl, slither or fly, to have their pictures taken with a holiday theme and help support our wildlife friends for a nominal donation.

Northeast Focal Point, providing information, outreach, health support, counseling, transportation, nutrition and recreational services, is looking for volunteers to help with a Holiday Craft Sale and Celebration, Friday, December 7, 9 am &emdash;12:30 p.m., both in staffing and in providing donations of baked goods and craft items. Friday, December 14 help will be needed for a Holiday Party, games from 9-11 am with lunch following.
