In the Marching Season of the 2005-2006 school year, WHS band received a Superior at one the competitions and qualified for the state competition.

At the Park Vista Marching Band competition in 2005, the Band received the highest rating and won awards such as Best Woodwinds, Best Percussion, Best Colorgaurd/Auxilary, and more in their class

In 2006, the WHS Jazz band made Western High School history by recieving the highest rating at district competiton and qualified for state competition for the first time in 10 years

The jazz band then moved onto the state competition and made an excellent rating

In 2006, the concert band received a Superior rating at the district competition and was able to move onto states.
