The mission of Western High School is to provide learning experiences in the arts, sciences, humanities, and vocations.These experiences will enable our students to understand, develop and express their unique interests and talents.Our primary goal is to graduate responsible citizens and lifelong learners capable of making informed choices that positively shape their futures, families and communities.

Belief Statements:

-Teachers, administrators, parents and community partners function as a learning organization that promotes opportunities for all those who have a stake in the success of the school.

-Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process, and when they have appropriate opportunities for success. -A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning.

-Assessments of student learning should provide students with a variety of opportunities to demonstrate their achievement of the expectations for their learning.

-The commitment to continuous improvement is imperative if our school is going to enable students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners.

- Students learn to make appropriate decisions given a supportive and challenging learning environment.

-A student's self-esteem is enhanced by positive relationships and mutual respect among and between students and staff. - Curriculum and instructional practices should incorporate a variety of learning activities to accommodate differences in learning styles. - Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs.
